Oyster tasting party and NFT exhibition

On July 2nd (Sat), we held an oyster tasting party and an NFT exhibition hosted by the Oyster Young Association in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo!

NFT art is art that uses a new technology called non-fungible tokens, and the Oyster Young Association is also working on NFT to change the oyster industry.
This time, we took on the challenge of combining an oyster tasting party and NFT for the first time as a primary industry!

Approximately 70 people attended, and the event was so successful that it even appeared in the Suisan Keizai Shimbun!

This time, I will introduce the contents of the event.

<Oysters at the tasting party>

There were 4 types of oysters served at the tasting party.

  1. Maruhachi "Aya"
    Saiyan oysters, which are popular on the EC site of the Young Oyster Association, are small-sized, and are characterized by their crispy texture and juicy flesh.
    It was popular with people who didn't like eating too big but wanted to eat something thick!

  2. Maruhachi's new rock oyster Maruhachi's new rock oyster. Single-seed rock oysters, which are small for rock oysters. It has a salty taste that is easy to eat and goes well with wine. Still, it's a rich oyster. It was very popular at the tasting party this time!
    It will be sold on the EC site in the future.

  3. It is the largest rock oyster in the Uzushio King Oyster Association. Although it is large, it has a refreshing taste and is very satisfying to eat. It is an oyster that everyone who ate at the tasting party said they wanted to repeat.

  4. Nishikimorimaru Tenkai “Nishikimorimaru Tenkai” is an oyster from Nishikimorimaru Suisan, a fisherman in Kagoshima Prefecture. The size is comparable to that of Uzushio King, and it has a clean taste and a crunchy mantle. At the tasting party, sales on the EC site were desired!

<Participating fishermen>

This time, Mr. Suzuki Suisan, a fisherman from Hiroshima Prefecture, and Mr. Shimomura Suisan, a fisherman from Ishikawa Prefecture, participated and served oysters and oyster pizza at the venue.

Since there are few opportunities to have oysters peeled directly by fishermen, the participants were delighted!
And above all, the distance between fishermen and consumers has gotten closer!

I am very happy that I was able to achieve one of the purposes of the event, "interaction between fishermen and consumers."

<Reason for the tasting party and NFT exhibition>

The reason why we held the tasting party and NFT exhibition at the same time this time is as follows.

  1. I want the distance between oyster fishermen and consumers to shrink
  2. I want people who learned about the oyster young people's association through NFT to actually experience oysters.
  3. I want multiple communities to interact with each other through oysters.
  4. I want cryptocurrency investors to come and interact with NFT creators because of oysters.
  5. I want people who don't know NFT to come and learn about NFT because of oysters.

I implemented it with such a purpose, and I think I was able to achieve everything!
I don't think it was possible to achieve this with just the NFT exhibition, so I strongly felt the potential of the NFT exhibition combined with food.

<Possibility of NFT>

The Young Oyster Association was originally an activity aimed at stimulating the oyster industry while exchanging opinions among young fishermen. The main thing was to send out information about oysters on SNS, but that alone was not enough to spread awareness of our activities.

However, since I started working in the NFT industry, my activities have expanded rapidly, and I have been recognized in various communities, and I have been able to create deep relationships.

Without NFT, I don't think it would have been possible for the young oyster group to attract so many customers and get so much excitement in about half a year since it started, and it would have been impossible to publish it in the newspaper.

We will continue to work on NFT-related activities and strive to change the Japanese oyster industry through NFT!

Thank you very much to all of you who made it up!
